Candace L. Fritts is a Licensed Clinical social worker with licensing in both North and South Carolina. She obtained her Master of Social Work from the Joint Master of Social Work Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition, Candace holds a bachelor’s degrees in biology from Winston-Salem State University along with a bachelor’s degree in social work from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Candace's philosophy is to focus on the uniqueness of everyone and understands when treating a patient "One size does NOT fit all". Therefore, Candace works collaboratively with the patient on the best treatment modalities to meet their specific and individual needs. This can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing etc. Her passion and areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, relationship & marital issues, cultural diversity, gender identity, LGBTQIA+ issues, equality, and mental trauma. She defines "empathy for all" as her number one skill and superpower.
Candace has over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field in various settings. This includes community mental health centers, inpatient and outpatient private practices, trauma centers, substance misuse clinics, schools etc. Recently she has begun to integrate her love of the arts to select patient populations by incorporating art therapy, dance therapy, yoga, and mindfulness.
Candace is a huge advocate and member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Candace is also a member of the NAACP and the black political caucus of Cabarrus County. She is a licensed Zumba instructor who encourages health and wellness through fitness. Candace also prides herself as being a single mother of three children, one of which is special needs. Fun Fact: Candace was once a contestant on “Let’s Make a Deal”.
Candace realizes that the need for her level of expertise has never been greater then within the current environments in which we all live, work, and communicate and she, alongside Ballantyne Medical Associates, is focused on doing all we can to address this National mental health crisis our Nation is facing.
